Overview

MFG Data Archive moves data for completed manufacturing orders out of a live company database into an archive company database. This frees space in the live company, improving performance and making it easier to manage backups.

The first step is to create the archive company. This can be done manually by using GP Utilities to create a new, empty, company, or with the included Archive Utility that creates an archive company from a backup of the live company. The advantage of the second approach is the archive company will already have a copy of master records like Item Numbers and Sites.

If you have already installed Company Data Archive from Professional Advantage, and created an Archive Company, MFG Data Archive will use the existing Archive Company.

NOTE: MFG Data Archive archives the manufacturing data only. Use of Company Data Archive from Professional Advantage will allow archiving of other data that may be important to manufacturing, such as Item Numbers and Inventory Transactions. See www.ProfAd.com for more information. MFG Data Archive must be used together with Company Data Archive.

MFG Data Archive integrates with the GP Manufacturing Remove Manufacturing Orders utility. When Remove Manufacturing Orders is run, MFG Data Archive will automatically move the deleted data into the archive company.

MFG Data Archive also has its own Archive Manufacturing Data window which allows setting the utility to run for a set period of time, after which it will stop automatically.

MFG Data Archive integrates with the GP Manufacturing Remove Archived BOMs utility. When Remove Archived BOMs is run the MFG Data Archive will automatically move the deleted BOMs into the archive company.

Inquiries and reports on historical data can be run from the archive company.

Mfg Data Archive must be registered (have a valid, un-expired registration key) for its controls to be active (see Archive Controls), and the software must be installed on every GP client.
