BOM History

BOM History

HelpID: 497022122

The BOM History Inquiry window is a “Most Recently Viewed” list for the BOM Entry and BOM View windows. It provides quick access to a previously viewed BOM, making it easy to drill down into lower level assemblies and then quickly return to the top level.

It also adds a universal Zoom feature. You can drill into any subassembly by clicking on it in the treeview and pressing CTRL+Z. This will work with any BOM, such as MFG BOM or ENG BOM and also Configured and Archived BOMs.

Setup

Navigation: Tools >> Setup >> Manufacturing >> MFG PowerPack Setup

Mark the box next to “BOM History Inquiry”

Close the MFG PowerPack Setup window.

BOM History Inquiry will be available for the current user.  All other users must close GP, then log-in again to enable the feature.

Using BOM History Inquiry

BOM History Inquiry will open automatically from either the BOM Entry or BOM View window when a Bill of Materials is displayed.

The BOM History window will position itself behind and to the left of the BOM window.

If it is opened from BOM Entry it becomes “attached” to that window. Double-clicking on a previously viewed BOM will open it in BOM Entry, and the “view” button provides access to open a BOM in the BOM Inquiry window.

If it is opened from BOM View it becomes “attached” to that window. Double-clicking on a previously viewed BOM will open it in BOM View, and the “view” button provides access to open a BOM in the BOM Entry window.

The “Select Item” button on both BOM Entry and BOM View does not work when attempting to drill into a Configured or Archived BOM when the Parent Item has a different BOM Type/BOM Name. For example, when viewing a MFG BOM Parent that contains a Config or Arch BOM subassembly, the “Select Item” button will attempt to display the MFG BOM of the subassembly, rather than the Config/Arch BOM that was selected. The “Select Item” button incorrectly retains the BOM Type and BOM Name from the Parent when it attempts to drill-down to the subassembly.

When BOM History Inquiry is enabled, any subassembly can be correctly selected by pressing CTRL+Z (i.e. “zoom”).
