The Tariff Module provides an extensive degree of configuration to suit your needs.

Tariff Codes define a method of calculating a tariff or duty.

A Tariff Code can be a user defined ID such as 20PCT or it can be an HTS code.  When an HTS code is used the Tariff module will pull information directly from the government website.  A tariff can be calculated as a Percent of Value (Current or Standard Cost of an item) or Percent of Price (sales line price).  It can also include a specific amount per unit weight of the item (or weight of material content, such as steel or aluminum).

An unlimited number of Tariff Codes can be assigned to each item.

There are multiple methods to choose from that control how the tariff is added to sales documents.  Shown above is “Per Line Item with Detail”.  This shows a breakout of each tariff.  This can be particularly useful with a made item where the tariff module will explode the entire BOM and calculate the total amount of tariff for the finished good based on the Tariff Code(s) assigned to each component.  Tariff can also be added at the line level in a summary amount, a single line for the document, or to the document Miscellaneous field.

The Tariff Module can use the Manufacturing Bill of Materials, Inventory Assembly BOM, or a Kit, to calculate the tariff for a top-level assembly.

Tariff information for an assembly can be provided to your customer by exporting the Tariff BOM Report to Excel.  The Tariff BOM Report produces an exploded MFG BOM with Country of Origin and Tariff Code(s) assigned to each item.
