MFG PowerPack Commodity Surcharge

Price $1800 Manual

Commodity Surcharge tracks the spot price of commodities, and adds surcharges during invoicing to cover the difference in the spot price between the date on which a price was quoted and the date of invoicing.

Create an unlimited number of Commodity records, and track the spot price of each commodity.  A predefined Threshold determines the price variance which triggers the module to add a surcharge, so that minor variations in price do not result in adding a surcharge for an insignificant dollar amount.

An Item in GP is assigned one or more commodity codes, and the amount of the commodity contained in the item.  A single item can contain an unlimited number of commodities, such as copper and gold in a wiring harness.

During transfer of a sales document to an invoice the Commodity Surcharge module examines each document for items containing commodities.  If the difference in spot price between the quote date and the invoice date for the commodities in the item result in a price difference which exceeds the predefined threshold, the Commodity Surcharge module will add a surcharge to the document.

MFG PowerPack BOM Type Security

Price $1200 Manual

BOM Type Security provides control over access to Bills of Material at the User ID – BOM Type level.  Restrict access to Engineering BOMs to engineering users, and Manufacturing BOMs to production users.  If a user attempts to access a restricted BOM in Bill of Materials Entry, they will be switched automatically into the Bill of Materials View window, where they can VIEW any BOM Type.  The control is also applied to the Manufacturing BOM Copy window, and our own BOM Archive window.

MFG PowerPack BOM Archive

Price $3000 Demo Manual

BOM Archive creates a snapshot of the entire, exploded,  Bill of Materials structure (the top level of the BOM, and also the Bills of allsubassemblies), and stores it as a series of named Archived BOMs.  The archival process can also capture a similar snapshot of all associated Routings (the parent routing, and all subassembly routings).

BOMArchive1

The image above shows 100XLG archived by BOM Archive.  It creates an ARCH BOM named 100XLG160722 for 100XLG, and each of its subassemblies.  The result is a complete copy of the entire exploded BOM at the moment the snapshot is taken.  Since it is an active, ARCH BOM, it can still be used on an MO to create an assembly at a specific revision level.

This contrasts to the BOM Copy or BOM Revisioning in GP Manufacturing which capture only the top-level components.

BOMArchive2

The BOM Revision functionality in GP Manufacturing captures only the top-level BOM.  As shown above, both Rev 1 and Rev 2 for 100XLG still link to the current MFG BOM for BA100G, so any changes in BA100G are incorrectly shown in this historical Rev 1 BOM.

BOM Archive can auto-generate an Archive Name using several different naming methods (such as YYYYMMDD), or you can manually enter one.

MFG PowerPack Batch Processing

Price $2400 Manual

Batch Processing adds the ability to record routing steps based on batch size or processing capacity of a machine.  A process which can handle a certain quantity, such as an oven being able to handle 200 bricks per cycle, can now be recorded and correctly scheduled in GP.

Without Batch Processing, routings must be set up based on a “full cycle”.  For example, if the oven can handle 200 bricks, and a brick needs to be dried for 10 hours, this would be recorded as 0.05 hours of machine time.  When exactly 200 bricks are made, this results in the correct machine time calculation of 10 hours.  However, if the batch size is not always the same, this calculation does not result in the correct machine time—for 1 brick or 200 bricks you still need 10 hours.

Batch Processing supports recording batch time/capacity for both labor and machine.  Since GP Manufacturing ‘thinks’ in terms of per-piece labor and machine time, when an MO is scheduled the Batch Processing enhancement recalculates the per-piece time based on the quantity being made and the capacity per cycle for the labor and machine.  So if the Batch Time is 10 hrs in the Kiln for each batch of 200 bricks, and you make 500 bricks, that is a total of three batches (one is partial) for 30 hrs of Kiln time.  That works out to a per-piece time of 0.06 so that 500 x 0.06 causes GP to schedule 30 hrs in the Kiln.

Item Process Tracking

Item Process Tracking (IPT) is a configurable data collection template which can be attached to any Item-Transaction combination in Dynamics GP.

IPT is designed to address the need to record specific information about an item, or a process on or with the item, when that item is used on a specific type of transaction.  For example, it can be used when receiving an item on a Service RMA to record the condition of the returned item and several return process steps.  Or, IPT might be used when receiving an item on a Manufacturing Order to record a post-production checklist.  IPT could also be used during Sales Invoicing to record that packing/prepping steps were completed.

EZImport

EZImport solves the problem of how to retain data from a legacy system so it can be referenced from within Dynamics GP, while avoiding the time and expense to import “real” historical transactions.

While it is possible to convert legacy data and migrate it into GP, this can be very time consuming and expensive. To ensure a migrated transaction is accepted by GP, many key fields need to be mapped from the old system to the new system.

Engineer to Order

Engineer to Order (ETO) produces a Manufacturing Estimation (ME), which is the estimated cost to produce an item to a customer’s specifications.  The ME is comprised of an Estimation BOM, Routing and list of Miscellaneous Costs.  A tight integration to GP Manufacturing allows the ETO module to begin an estimate by importing an existing GP Manufacturing BOM and Routing, and when the ME is accepted, the ETO module transfers the ME BOM and Routing into GP Manufacturing, and creates new part numbers as needed.  If the ME is linked to a Sales Quote Line, Accepting the ME can also update the Cost and Price on the sales line and change the item from a non-inventory item to a Sales Inventory item.

GP PowerPack UofM Schedule Change

Price $2400 Manual

Enables changing a U of M Schedule for an item and automatically updating all affected master record and transaction tables throughout Dynamics GP, Manufacturing and Field Service.  The utility automatically maps Units of Measure between the old Schedule and the new Schedule, which can have the same or large Quantity Decimals.  For example, if the old Schedule has a conversion of Case = 10 Each, and the new Schedule has a conversion of CA = 10 EA, all transactions with Case will be updated to CA.  Normally GP does not roll changes through the system, requiring a manual fix to the Unit of Measure on each transaction or master record.  The utility also keeps the Purchasing Options, Price List, and Extended Price List by converting it to mapped units of measure.  See more about how it works.

The GP “Take Company Offline” utility gives access to SA, all Power Users, and a single user with “Offline Access” specified on the Company Setup window.

GP PowerPack SOP Auto-Select Bin

Price $1200 Manual

Eliminates the need to manually select bins in Sales Transaction Entry by automatically fulfilling an order from available inventory across multiple bins.  If Bin Priorities are specified for an item, bins will be used in order of priority, otherwise they are used in alphanumeric order.

The bin information on Item Site Default Bins determines how SOP Auto-Select Bins will move through the bins to allocate inventory.

  • If a Sales Order Fulfillment bin is present, that will always be used first for non-Serial/Lot controlled inventory. For serial/lot controlled inventory SOP Auto-Select Bins will use only the Bin Priority list, or Bins in Alpha-Numeric order.
  • If no Bins are entered into the Priority List, bins will next be selected in alphanumeric order.
  • If Bins are entered into the Priority List, bins will be selected in the order presented in the list (the #1 bin is selected first).

GP PowerPack Login Monitor

Price $2400 Demo Manual

Login Monitor has several features to help improve security and make full use of Dynamics GP user licenses.

Login Monitor can remove ‘inactive’ users either on an as-needed basis, or when they have been inactive for a certain amount of time.  In the first method, when a new user attempts to log-in, if there is not an available user seat, Login Monitor will check for inactive users and remove one from the system so the new user can get in.  In the second method, security is enhanced by automatically removing users once their ‘inactivity time’ has exceeded a threshold and closing the GP client.

Login Monitor supports a system-wide inactivity time, which can be superseded by user-specific inactivity time settings.  Additionally, individual users can be excluded from the inactivity control.

Reserved Seats provides control over a number of users seats set aside for groups of users (by User Class).  For example, an ADMIN could be assigned 2 seats, which can then only be consumed by users in the ADMIN User Class.  If there are 30 user licenses, reserving 2 for ADMIN will make Dynamics GP behave as if there are 28 seats available for all other users.

GP PowerPack IV Mass Transaction

Price $2400 Manual

IV Mass Transaction creates an Inventory Transfer or Adjustment of all inventory in a selected “From Site” and “From Bin”.

IV Mass Transaction

Create an Adjustment to remove everything from a specified Site/Bin (it works with or without Multi-bins enabled).

IV Mass Transaction

The IV Mass Adjustment utility creates the Inventory Adjustment by selecting all available inventory in the From Site/Bin.  Serial/Lot controlled inventory is also added to the Adjustment.

IV Mass Adjustment can be used, for example, to quickly remove all inventory from a Returns-Rejects Site/Bin.

IV Mass Transaction

IV Mass Transfer can be used together with WilloWare’s Bin-to-Bin Transfer enhancement (as shown above).  The IV Mass Transfer utility adds all inventory from a selected From Site/Bin to the Inventory Transfer.

The To Site is either entered by the user, or in the case of Bin-to-Bin Transfers it is automatically set to match the From Site.  In either case, the To Bin can either use a Default Bin entered by the user, or a To Bin assigned to the Item-Site in the Item Site Default Bins window.

As shown above, the Default To Bin is “TEST”, and the To Bin Source is the Purchase Receipts Bin.  With these options, the transfer will pull all inventory from WAREHO– USE Bin A, and put the inventory into each Item’s respective Purchase Receipts Bin (if there is one), or into TEST.

IV Mass Transaction

In this example, the Transfer allocates all inventory in the From Site/Bin, including serial/lot controlled inventory, and adds it to the Transfer.  The To Bin is retrieved from the Item’s Purchase Receipts Bin.

IV Mass Transfer can be used to support an incoming inspection routine where PO Receipts initially go into a Pending Inspection Bin.  After Inspection the inventory is moved into a Released Bin, and from there the Mass Transfer can create a “directed put-away” transfer pulling all inventory from the Released Bin and placing it into each Item’s Stocking Bin.

GP PowerPack idModifier

Price $1800 Manual

idModifier is a utility for updating ID fields (strings) in the Dynamics GP Company database.  idModifier takes a novel approach in that it can be “trained” to update ANY string field, so it can handle updates beyond just the core Dynamics GP tables.  It can handle Field Service, Manufacturing, Human Resources, and Project Accounting.  It can also update 3rd Party Products and customizations.

The first step is to “training” idModifier by providing it sample data.  For example, to develop an Item Number modifier profile, you would have it search for representative samples such as “128 SDRAM”, “256 SDRAM” and “100 XLG”.  It searches ALL string fields in ALL tables in the company database looking for the sample data.

The ID Add window provides 1-click access to view data in a selected table.

When the update profile is complete it is ready to be used in idModifier.

The update process first confirms that the target new value (i.e. the “new” Item Number) does not exist in any of the update tables.  If it does not, the update proceeds, and if not, all errors are reported.

Advanced Filters provide several additional methods for searching, sorting, and restricting the list of deposits.  You can quickly sort deposits by dollar amount (as shown above), or display only AMEX deposits with the Credit Card restriction.

be_bankdep1

To help find a specific deposit, when a document is selected in the scrolling window, the Transaction Description will display in the title bar.

The Deposit Slip Preview window shows only the receipts marked for deposit.  This provides a quick way to confirm the deposit in GP matches your deposit slip.  The window can remain open and refreshes automatically as you mark receipts.

Bank Reconciliation

The number of codes displayed in the TYPE column is expanded to provide more detail about deposits.  Rather than simply showing DEP for each deposit, the Type field contains a code indicating the type of cash receipt(s) contained in the deposit.

K = Checks

S = Cash

C = Credit Cards

When a deposit contains only credit cards, the first letter of each Card Name will be displayed, up to three cards.  As shown above, using the Fabrikam data, the code BGP indicates a deposit containing:

Bankcard

Gold Credit

Platinum Credit

be_bankrec2

Advanced Filters provide the ability to restrict the Bank Rec window by any of the Type codes.  Use Filter to quickly restrict the window to show only credit card deposits.

be_bankrec3

To speed research, selecting a document in the scrolling window displays the Transaction Description in the title bar.

Auto-Zoom automatically refreshes an open zoom window when you click on a new document.  For example,  once the Bank Deposit Entry Zoom window is open, each time you click on a deposit in the Bank Rec window, the zoom window will re-display to show the newly selected deposit.  This saves a lot of clicks over having to repeatedly select a document then click the Zoom button.

The Excel Solver integration provides a solution for a very complicated problem–how to find a set of deposits which total a specific amount.  You might have individual Credit Card deposits recorded in GP, but the bank reports a single deposit amount.  The Excel Solver integration sends the contents from the Bank Rec window out to a Solver template, and launches the Excel Solver Add-In.  Solver examines all of the documents to find a combination which totals the amount you specify.

GP PowerPack Inventory Tweaks

GP PowerPack Tweaks includes enhancements for all parts of Dynamics GP.  The Inventory Tweaks are:

  • Allow IV Discontinue: Enables setting the Item Type to Discontinued for all Item Types.
  • Item Class User Defined Fields: GP provides 6 “Item Category” fields that are defined at the Company level.  Item Class User Defined Fields enables set-up of the six Item Category fields on an Item-Class level so that different groups of items can have different Item Category fields with different sets of lookup values for each field.  GP provides Item User Category definition at the Company level, so all Items must have the same 6 User Defined Fields.  With Item Class UDF each Class of Items can have its own set of User Defined Fields.
  • Open IRP with Item’s Default Site: If a Default Site ID is assigned to an Item in Item Quantities Maintenance, when the Item is displayed in Item Resource Planning the window will automatically show information for the Item’s Default Site ID.
  • Lock Item History Fields: normally the fields on Item History are editable, which would allow an accidental change to historical inventory information.
  • Remove Bins Utility Fix: The GP Remove Bins utility is supposed to check if a bin is assigned as a Default Bin at the Item-Site level, and not remove the bin if it is a default bin. The utility does not perform this check, and removes bins assigned as default. The Remove Bins Utility Fix ensures the default bin check is performed.
  • Set IV Batch Post to GL checkbox: automatically sets the Post to GL checkbox on Inventory Batch Entry to ensure that batches are always posted through to GL by default.
  • Stock Calendar Years: The GP Stock Calendar window has a “years” dropdown list that only has years up to 2020.  The Stock Calendar Years tweak extends this to 2094.

GP PowerPack Purchasing Tweaks

GP PowerPack Tweaks includes enhancements for all parts of Dynamics GP.  The Purchase Order Processing Tweaks are:

  • Auto-Close Child Windows: no more playing “Where’s Window” after clicking Save on a PO. GP will tell you which window is open, but will does not bring it forward, requiring the user to hunt for and close the window before being allowed to save the document. This Tweak will close open child windows automatically.
  • Calculate Release Date: Purchasing Setup has an option to calculate the Release Date based on the Required Date but it only works when entering a new line.  This Tweak ensures the Release Date is recalculated if the Required Date is changed.
  • Duplicate Items Warning: warns user when the same Item Number is added more than once to the same Purchase Order.
  • Email Editable In History: Enables use of the Email Detail Entry window from historical documents so that historical documents can be resent to different email addresses.
  • Lock PO Costs (view demo): prevent editing of the Unit Cost and Extended costs on PO Invoice Entry and PO Receivings Entry.
  • Lock Last Cost (view demo): Prevents posting PO Receipts from updating the Last Invoice Cost on Item-Vendors.  Also has an optional control on the Item Cost in PO Entry to prevent changing the cost outside of a predefined Allowable Variance.
  • Non-Inventory Unit of Measure: override Dynamics GP’s default use of “Each” on non-inventory items with your own Unit of Measure, such as LB, KG, Pack, etc.
  • Password to use Non-Inventory Items (view demo) : prevent accidental use of non-inventory items on Purchase Orders by requiring a password.
  • PO Number Forward Only (view demo): Prevents the Next PO Number in POP Setup from getting set far backwards to an unused PO. For example, if the current Next PO Number is PO2235 but a user enters PO1002 into PO Entry and PO1002 was never used, then the user clicks Delete (does not use the PO Number/ Closes the window), it gets “released” and PO Setup takes it as the new Next PO Number. The intent of POP functioning like this was to allow multiple users to create POs without gaps. For example, three users might open PO Entry and get PO Number PO2002, PO2003 and PO2004. If all of them close PO Entry without creating a PO the PO Number would reset to PO2002. However, this behavior also allows a user to type in PO0020 then close the window and the Next PO Number “resets” to PO0020. “PO Number Forward Only” allows setting a value for how far back the numbering can reset, from 0 (no reset allowed) to 999.
  • PO Receipt Type Control (view demo): allows you to assign User IDs to have access to only Shipment, or Shipment/Invoice. This setting controls the options available on the PO Entry “Actions” button, and on the Receivings Transaction Entry window. It also supports Vendor ID level setup so that the PO Receipt Type defaults based on the Vendor setup.
  • Prompt to Add Non-Inventory Items (view demo): when an Item Number (or Vendor Item Number) is entered that does not exist in the Item Master (or Vendor Item Master), the user is prompted to Add the item number to Item Maintenance.
  • Prompt to Add PURCH Acct to Vendor: When a PURCH account is selected on the PM Transaction Entry Distributions window, if it does not already exist on the Vendor’s Accounts page or Additional Accounts, the user will be asked to add it.
  • Prevent use of Non-Inventory Items in POP (view demo): makes sure that all items entered in POP exist in your Inventory Master
  • Purchasing Distributions By Line: Splits the POP Shipment/Shipment-Invoice, and POP Invoice PURCH distributions so that there is line PURCH distribution per line item.  PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT STATEMENT.
  • Purchasing Distributions Override: a Dynamics GP Version 10 service pack disabled the ability to change the PURCH account in Receivings Transaction Entry.  This tweak re-enables the ability to add/edit/delete the PURCH distributions.  PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT STATEMENT.
  • Require PURCH Acct in PO Entry: Makes the Inventory/Purchases/Drop-Ship Account a required field in Purchase Order Entry.
  • Sync PO Lines to SOP: reorders PO lines so the Items appear in the same order as they do on a linked Sales Order.  POs created from Sales Transaction Entry will be automatically reordered as they are created.
